91ż´Ć¬ marks its third annual Community Kindness Day — Thursday, Nov. 13

Spreading kindness across campus and throughout the community on World Kindness Day

Members of the University community are once again coming together to celebrate Community Kindness Day, which will be celebrated on World Kindness Day, Thursday, Nov. 13.

This year’s events focus on spreading kindness today — and every day — through philanthropy, reflection, and connection across campus and the broader community. Even small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference.

Inspired by World Kindness Day, which is celebrated globally each year on November 13, Community Kindness Day invites students, faculty, staff, and community members to take part in activities and small gestures that promote compassion, well-being, and belonging.

"Kindness is foundational to the MtA community and reminds us that connection, care, and compassion are at the heart of who we are and all we do,” says President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ian Sutherland. “I’m proud to see students, faculty, and staff coming together again this year to celebrate what it means to be part of a community that looks out for one another. Kindness Day is an important reminder that small acts of care make a lasting difference — not just today, but every day.”

Whether it’s expressing gratitude, lending a hand, or taking time for self-care, every act of kindness helps make 91ż´Ć¬ and Tantramar a more connected and caring place.

We will also be giving out blank kindness cards for you to write notes of kindness to those around you.
In addition, we will be taking non-perishable food donations (while delivering drinks) to be donated to MtA’s food Pantry, as part of National Philanthropy Day.

Student Affairs Delivering Kindness

Giving is one of the simplest and most powerful acts of kindness — and giving is more than just money — it’s time, talent, and testimony. Visit the Development Office table on Kindness Day to enjoy a treat, grab a sticker, express gratitude to donors through Thank-You cards, and share what philanthropy means to you as we look ahead to National Philanthropy Day on Saturday, Nov. 15.

Notes of Encouragement
All Day | R.P. Bell Library

Find words of encouragement at your favourite study spots around the library. These notes offer a gentle reminder to be kind to yourself and stay positive during the last stretch of the semester. You may even find something special attached to each note!

Thanking the Drivers at the Crosswalks
All-day

Poster boards will be set up at the main crosswalks to remind students to make eye contact, smile, and give a quick wave or “thank you” to drivers who stop. A small gesture of appreciation helps strengthen the positive connection between our campus and the wider community.

MASU Secret Kindness Missions
All-day
Stop by the MASU office to receive a secret kindness mission you must complete by the end of the day!
Each mission is a simple act of kindness that can make someone’s day a little bit better! Kindness catches on, so who knows, your mission may turn into a chain of good deeds.
