
Biography
Though Jaymie’s research interests vary widely, their research centers on the related questions of knowledge making; whose voices are trusted, whose are silenced, and how histories are crafted to the advantage of some at the exclusion of others. Their PhD dissertation—which they are completing through the University of Otago in Aotearoa New Zealand—takes up these questions by exploring how victorious Roman generals curated the display of plunder in order to manipulate the memory of events of conquest in the minds of the Roman public.
They are teaching Spoils of War in the Ancient Mediterranean (CLAS3991A) this term, and in the Winter they are teaching Introductory Latin II (LATI 1101).
