Research

My research is centred on using transgenic mice as a powerful tool to unravel the complexities of diseases and conditions, and assessing the neurological basis of behaviour, with a focus on the use of olfactory based tasks to evaluate learning and memory. The core of my research aims to bridge the gap between molecular biology and behavioural science. Utilizing transgenic rats and mice allows for the manipulation of specific genes, enabling a nuanced exploration of the genetic basis of behaviour and its implications for disease susceptibility and manifestation. By employing transgenic rodent models, I aim to unravel the neurobiological underpinnings of psychological and neurological disorders and diseases, translating these findings into valuable insights for the development of targeted interventions and therapies. Through a combination of quantitative methodologies, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a translational focus, I aim to advance our understanding of the genetic and behavioural factors underlying neuropsychological disorders.
